Your community experience - Attack feeling for connoisseurs
The night-time ascent of the Saalbach peaks is one of the most thrilling and spectacular ski touring events in the Alps. But this year, we’re opening the doors to a whole new field of participants: with the newly launched Raiffeisen „Tour of Lässig“ presented by Tyrolia-Head, amateur and leisure ski tourers can now get the most out of the experience too – with no time pressure whatsoever, but with a fantastic atmosphere and genuine community spirit! The concept: enjoyment and camaraderie rather than chasing the best time!
Anyone who’s previously hesitated at the thought of the cult Mountain Attack event has reason to rejoice:
The new format is explicitly aimed at all ski touring enthusiasts who want to experience the unique event atmosphere first-hand, without pushing themselves to the limits of racing speed. The core of the new discipline is as fair as it is ingenious: it’s not about the course record – the average time wins! This means that all participants – whether ambitious amateur athletes or leisure-oriented ski tourers – have exactly the same chance of winning a very special prize.
KEY-FACTs at a glance
- Race number collection: from 9.00 am to 2.30 pm in Saalbach (Hervis Store Saalbach)
- Start: 5.00 pm at the Hochalm (Checkpoint 4 of the marathon distance). From here, you’ll join the original route of the grand Mountain Attack finale straight away.
- Route: The final marathon climb takes you along the Hasenauer Köpfl up to the Reiterkogel, continuing over the Bernkogel and finally down a thrilling downhill section straight to the finish in Saalbach.
- Ascent: Approx. 910 metres of elevation gain – the perfect level of challenge for an unforgettable twilight adventure.
Compulsory equipment: Touring skis, touring ski boots & bindings, touring ski poles, helmet, head torch, emergency blanket, 1 pair of climbing skins. - Also recommended: Ski goggles, rucksack with warm clothing, 2nd pair of climbing skins, plenty of fluids!
Scoring system: Average time scoring (exclusive prize!) - Fair play: Please ensure that you do not obstruct other race participants on the ‘fast track’ when overtaking or passing. When changing skins, taking a drink break, etc., be sure to move to the side! Unfortunately, we must disqualify anyone for gross negligence.
Arrivel & Logistics:
- Shuttle: One official free shuttle bus at 4.15 pm will take you comfortably from Saalbach (Schattberg X-Press valley station) to the Hochalm before the start. Otherwise, the public ski buses are available.
- Recommended departure time >> 4.05 pm: Ski shuttle bus from Schattberg X-Press – via the Hochalmbahn – to the TOUR OF LÄSSIG (every 5–10 minutes – journey time 15 mins) – last departure at 4.25 pm – arrival at the Hochalmbahn at 4.45 pm.
Car: Free parking spaces available on site at the Hochalm. (PLEASE NOTE: The finish line is in the centre of Saalbach – anyone travelling to the Hochalm by car will need to collect it again afterwards!
Please note – no more bus services! Return journey only possible by taxi! - The finish line: Goosebumps in the Attack Arena – An absolute highlight awaits in the final metres: the downhill race ends in the spotlight and in front of a cheering crowd in the legendary Attack Arena in Saalbach. The full fan spectacle and the spectacular, emotional finish make this amateur sporting experience complete.
